NPTCBC LDP Response to BBC News
(Posted: July 30th, 2010 )Response to BBC Wales Today : Land at Coed Hirwaun
As part of the preparation of the Local Development Plan for Neath Port Talbot, the Council is consulting with local communities on land that might be suitable for allocation for housing, right across the County Borough.
In the first stage of the consultation, a number of sites adjacent to the Coed Hirwaun village were suggested by landowners. At this stage the Council has suggested further land to enable the whole of the area surrounding the village to be considered. It has done the same in a number of locations across Neath Port Talbot.
This is an early stage of gathering information and the views of local communities in the preparation of the LDP. Suggesting the land be looked at does not in any way mean that the Council favours it.
In the next stage, the Council will set out its strategy for new housing across the County Borough and whether any additional housing should be located at Coed Hirwaun. There will be full consultation at that stage.

£100K CHCA sub-committee has first meeting
(Posted: July 14th, 2010 )The first meeting was held on 7th July where Kevin Thomas volunteered to be Chairman and Sarah Harrowing note taker. The two options of the community extension to the school and Multi-use Games Area were discussed and actions agreed to drive both forward.
Concern was raised about the impact of the development around the village on the two options. But it was felt that we should push on irregardless as it may well not affect our plans at all.
The next meeting planned is August 11th where results of the initial actions will be discussed and preparation made for a formal presentation to the School Governors, planned for September.
